‘I was devastated, I couldn’t think straight’: Love Island’s Jake Cornish details THAT shocking on air break up with Dancing On Ice’s Liberty Poole

They famously made a shocking exit from the villa, just four days before the final. 

And Love Island’s Jake Cornish, 24, has spoken about his heartbreak after his dramatic breakup with Dancing On Ice’s Liberty Poole, 22, in series seven of the show, on Saturday.  
During the dating programme Jake admitted he had struggled with Liberty’s ‘messy habits’ and Brummie accent, but was left heartbroken after the split as he had only been in one serious relationship before the contest. 

Opening up: Love Island’s Jake Cornish, 24, said: ‘I was devastated, I couldn’t think straight’ over his shocking on air break up with Dancing On Ice’s Liberty Poole, 22, on the ITV show

Speaking to The Sun, Jake detailed his first experience of being ‘dumped’: ‘I was devastated, I couldn’t think straight. My family was asking how my mental health was. Something made her decide that we weren’t right for each other and I had to take it on the chin.’ 

He added he did reach out to Liberty and wished her well ahead of the ITV contest but that was the last time he spoke to her. 
Jake confessed the star was his type, at first: ‘Liberty was my cup of tea, but it took me a while to get to know her and for those feelings to grow. I’ve always been with blondes with blue eyes and big boobs – and we clicked.

Exes: Jake admitted that he had struggled with Liberty’s ‘messy habits’ and Brummie accent, but was left heartbroken after the split as he had only been in one serious relationship before

Jake continued: ‘I only had one girlfriend before her, my childhood sweetheart. I’d never been dumped and it hurt, one minute we were planning a holiday together and arranging to meet each other’s families, the next it was over.’

As there seven-week romance panned out during the series the couple were favourites to win, but their romance quickly took a turn for the worse as producers played clips of early conversations during ‘Movie Night.’  
Liberty learned that Jake had previously said to the boys: ‘It’s just not that 100 per cent where I look at her and go, I haven’t got the girl there where I’m like f*** me I want to rip your clothes off.
‘I don’t want to fake any s*** you know what I mean? I don’t want to say I really do like her when I don’t, I’d be lying to myself.’

In the shocking break up scenes that followed, Liberty confronted Jake and also brought up his about his past comments on her appearance and ‘messy habits’. 
Viewers saw Liberty tell Jake: ‘I just don’t feel like you love me for me and I want someone who loves me for me.’   
Jake later added that he believed the couple’s split was broadcast differently, as he explained that they did share a kiss afterwards, which wasn’t aired.

It’s all over: After learning about his comments, viewers saw Liberty tell Jake: ‘I just don’t feel like you love me for me and I want someone who loves me for me’

Speaking to the MailOnline in September, Jake confessed that the game laid on by producers was the beginning of the end for himself and Liberty.  
He detailed ‘the stress’ and ‘intensity’ of being in the villa as he admitted that in the last week that he ‘didn’t even recognise himself.’  
Jake said: ‘I am very black and white and I wear my heart on my sleeve. People that don’t know me have said I looked run down towards the end. If you can see how I went in there, as the bubbly cheeky chappy, I came out as someone I have never been in my life.’
